The Cutthroat is a modern ranch house, with all the conveniences, but with the rustic feel of a 1930s western resort. The house offers three bedrooms and three private baths, fully equipped gourmet kitchen, screened sleeping and dining porch, lake frontage with excellent summer swimming, and immediate proximity to the Methow Valley cross country ski trail system. The bedrooms sleep six, with queen-size beds in two rooms and extra-long twins that convert into a king-size bed in the third.

The house enjoys a terrific view across Freestone Lake of Goat Wall and the upper Methow Valley. Amenities include a Viking Range, spacious island kitchen, Slatescape countertops throughout, a mud room with drying racks for ski gear, TV, VCR, DVD, Sony CD player, free WiFi, washer/dryer, year round outdoor gas grill, heat lamps in the screened porch, a striking gas masonry and concrete fireplace with native rock on the interior walls, and high-quality custom made mattresses in each bedroom.

The house is built with recycled wood, primarily from an apple warehouse that was dismantled in nearby Okanogan. The flooring is original fir with a well-preserved dark patina from the decades of traffic it received as warehousemen stored and processed bins of Eastern Washington apples. The walls are horizontal pine planking, some of which still bear the remnants of markings from stenciled row numbers and hand-scrawled apple sizes. Made of old growth timber and logged at the turn of the century at the Twisp mill, the wood has taken on its own character.
